Thank you for coming to this page. Volunteering for a cause can be empowering, knowing that you are making a difference in your community and the way your government works. There are a few things we need to discuss before you download the flyer and pass it out.

• Above all, consider your personal safety before all else. If you have anyone under 18 that you are responsible for assisting, you make sure they understand they are representing the campaign. Please make sure they are safe and understand the basic rules.
• If you are in front of a business, ask permission before proceeding. If there's any question about it, go somewhere else and do not have a disruption.
• If you would like to hang the flyer on a door, make sure whatever you use to tape it up or attach it will not damage the surface and get permission.
• Sidewalks are public property; you have a right to be there. You do not have the right to impede anyone's passage. You will not sway someone to your position by irritating them.
• Never argue with anyone. Neither one of you will win. If the person does not want the flyer, consider the next person, they may be receptive to your idea.
• You may want to consider using words such as, “would you please consider our candidate” and offer them the flyer.
• If you are passing the flyer out in a neighborhood it is OK to knock on a door or ring a doorbell.
• Do not go into anyone's house.
• If you have any questions about what is legal in your neighborhood, call the police department and ask. Do not call 911 there is a local number that is available during business hours.
• If you see a flyer on the ground, please pick it up and dispose of it properly.

Thank you for participating. It has been proven time and time again that it is the human connection between us that makes the difference between success and failure. A couple of hours a week passing out flyers is worth a week's worth of annoying Radio ads. The people that you contacted the week before may stop and say thank you when they see you again. Set your printer on black and white to save ink.
